Joseph Ngute was born in Ndian, Cameroon, on 12 March 1954. He is a Cameroonian politician who has served as Prime Minister of Cameroon since 2019. He is a member of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) and was previously Minister of External Relations from 2018 to 2019. Ngute is a graduate of the University of Yaoundé, where he obtained a degree in law in 1979. He also holds a master's degree in public law from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Ngute has held various positions in the Cameroonian government, including Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts from 2009 to 2011, Minister of Transport from 2011 to 2013, and Minister of External Relations from 2018 to 2019. In 2019, Ngute was appointed Prime Minister of Cameroon by President Paul Biya. He is the first Prime Minister from the South West Region of Cameroon.
