Jun Mitsui is a Japanese architect who was born in 1955 in Iwakuni, Yamaguchi, Japan. He is best known for his work on the Tokyo International Forum, a large-scale complex in Tokyo, Japan. He is also the founder of Jun Mitsui & Associates, a Tokyo-based architecture firm. Mitsui graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1979 with a degree in architecture. After graduation, he worked for the renowned architect Fumihiko Maki before founding his own firm in 1985. Mitsui has designed a number of notable buildings, including the Tokyo International Forum, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, and the Tokyo Sky Tree. He has also designed a number of residential buildings, including the Tokyo Midtown Residences and the Tokyo Midtown Tower. Mitsui has won numerous awards for his work, including the Architectural Institute of Japan Prize in 2003 and the Japan Institute of Architects Prize in 2006. He was also awarded the Order of the Rising Sun in 2008. Mitsui is married and has two children. He currently resides in Tokyo, Japan.
