K. Parasaran is a renowned Indian lawyer and former Attorney General of India. He was born on 9 October 1927 in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, India. He is the son of K. Subramania Iyer and Rukmani Ammal. He completed his schooling from St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli and obtained his law degree from Madras Law College. He started his career as a lawyer in the Madras High Court in 1952 and was appointed as the Additional Solicitor General of India in 1973. He was appointed as the Attorney General of India in 1983 and held the post till 1989. He has also served as the Additional Advocate General of Tamil Nadu from 1989 to 1990. He has represented India in various international forums and has also been a part of the Indian delegation to the United Nations. He has also been a part of the Indian delegation to the International Court of Justice. He has also been a part of the Indian delegation to the International Law Commission. He has been a part of various committees and commissions such as the National Commission to Review the Working of the Constitution, the National Commission on Population, the National Commission on Women, the National Commission on Labour, the National Commission on Farmers, and the National Commission on Human Rights.
