Kate Walsh is an American actress and producer. She was born on October 13, 1967 in San Jose, California. She is best known for her roles as Dr. Addison Montgomery on the medical drama Grey's Anatomy and its spin-off Private Practice, and Rebecca Wright on the short-lived crime drama The Fugitive. Walsh attended the University of Arizona, where she majored in theater. After graduating, she moved to Chicago and began working in theater productions. She made her television debut in 1994, appearing in an episode of the sitcom Seinfeld. She went on to appear in a number of television shows, including The Drew Carey Show, Spin City, and The Mind of the Married Man. In 2005, Walsh was cast as Dr. Addison Montgomery in the medical drama Grey's Anatomy. She was a regular cast member for the first three seasons, and returned as a guest star for the fourth season. In 2007, she was given her own spin-off series, Private Practice, which ran for six seasons. In addition to her television work, Walsh has appeared in a number of films, including Under the Tuscan Sun, The Family Stone, and Girls Trip. She has also done voice work for the animated films Planes and Planes: Fire & Rescue. Walsh has won numerous awards for her work, including a Satellite Award, a Prism Award, and a People's Choice Award. She has also been nominated for two Golden Globe Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards.
