Krishna Bahadur Basnet is a Nepalese long-distance runner who was born on 17 February, 1959 in Nepal. He is the first Nepalese athlete to win a gold medal in an international event. He won the gold medal in the 10,000 meters event at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, India. Basnet began his career as a long-distance runner in 1977 and went on to win several national and international titles. He won the gold medal in the 10,000 meters event at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, India. He also won the silver medal in the 10,000 meters event at the 1985 Asian Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia. Basnet was awarded the prestigious Gorkha Dakshin Bahu, the highest civilian award of Nepal, in 1983. He was also awarded the Order of Gorkha Dakshin Bahu, the second highest civilian award of Nepal, in 1985. Basnet is currently the president of the Nepal Athletics Association. He is also the president of the Nepal Olympic Committee. Basnet is 61 years old. He is married and has two children. His height is 5 feet 8 inches and his weight is 68 kgs.
