Lazkao Txiki was born in the Basque Country of Spain in 1926. He was a renowned Basque folk singer and composer. He was known for his traditional Basque songs, which he sang in the Basque language. He was also a member of the Basque Nationalist Party. Lazkao Txiki was a self-taught musician and began his career in the 1950s. He released his first album in 1959 and went on to release several more albums throughout his career. He was also a prolific songwriter, writing over 500 songs. Lazkao Txiki was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts by the Spanish government in 1998. He was also awarded the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts by the Basque government in 2000. Lazkao Txiki passed away in 2013 at the age of 87. He was survived by his wife and two children.
