He attended the University of Alaska Anchorage and graduated with a degree in political science. He began his political career in the early 1980s, when he was elected to the Anchorage Assembly. He served as mayor of Anchorage from 1988 to 1995. During his tenure, he was credited with helping to revitalize the city's economy and infrastructure. In addition to his political career, Brooks has also been involved in a number of business ventures. He is the founder and CEO of Brooks Investment Group, a real estate investment firm. He is also the founder and chairman of the Alaska Native Heritage Center, a museum and cultural center dedicated to preserving and promoting Alaska Native culture. As of 2021, Leo A.
