Lorenzo Barcelata was a Mexican composer, singer, and actor. He was born in Tlalixcoyan, Veracruz, Mexico on July 30, 1898. He is best known for his song "Cielito Lindo," which has become a popular Mexican folk song. Barcelata began his career as a singer and actor in the early 1920s. He appeared in several films, including "La Valentina" (1925) and "La Mujer de los Dos" (1927). He also wrote and composed several songs, including "Cielito Lindo," "La Bamba," and "La Negra." Barcelata was a prolific composer and wrote over 500 songs. He was also a successful recording artist, releasing several albums throughout his career. He was inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004. Barcelata died on April 28, 1975 in Mexico City, Mexico. He was 76 years old.
