Louis A. Hirsch was an American composer, songwriter, and music publisher. He was born in New York City and studied at the National Conservatory of Music. He wrote many popular songs, including "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" and "My Mammy". He also wrote the music for the Broadway musicals "The Red Mill" and "The Chocolate Soldier". He was a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). He died in New York City in 1942.

Songwriter ("Hello, Frisco, Hello"), composer and publisher, one of the nine founders of ASCAP in 1914 and an ASCAP director between 1917 and 1924. He was educated at the City College of New York and the Stern Academy in Berlin (with Rafael Joseffy). His career began as a staff pianist with the Gus Edwards, and Shapiro & Bernstein music companies, and later he wrote songs for the Lew Dockstader Minstrels.
