Lubor Těhník was born on 12 December, 1926 in Czechoslovakia. He was a Czechoslovakian film director, screenwriter, and actor. He is best known for his films such as The Cremator (1969), The Ear (1970), and The Joke (1969). Těhník studied at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He began his career as a film director in the 1950s. He directed several short films and documentaries before making his feature film debut with The Cremator in 1969. The film was a critical and commercial success and won several awards. Těhník's other notable films include The Ear (1970), The Joke (1969), and The Cassandra Cat (1983). He also wrote and directed several television films and series. Těhník died on 8 April, 2008 at the age of 81. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
