Lucie Brock-Broido is an American poet and professor. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended Harvard University, where she earned her B.A. in 1978 and her M.A. in 1981. She has taught at Columbia University, the University of Virginia, and Harvard University. Brock-Broido is the author of four collections of poetry: A Hunger (1992), The Master Letters (1999), Trouble in Mind (2004), and Stay, Illusion (2013). Her work has been widely praised and has earned her numerous awards, including the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award, the Guggenheim Fellowship, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Brock-Broido is currently a professor of English and Creative Writing at Columbia University. She lives in New York City with her husband, the poet and critic Stephen Burt.
