Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is a Brazilian politician who served as the 35th President of Brazil from 2003 to 2011. He is a member of the Workers' Party (PT) and is the founder of the Lula Institute, a non-profit organization that works to promote social and economic development in Brazil. Lula da Silva was born in Garanhuns, Pernambuco, to Eurídice Ferreira da Silva and Aristides Inácio da Silva.
