He is best known for his works such as The Song of the Rain, The Night of the First Billion, and The House of the Sun. Haddad studied at the University of Algiers and later at the Sorbonne in Paris. He was a professor of literature at the University of Algiers and the University of Constantine. He was also a member of the Algerian Writers' Union. Haddad's works have been translated into several languages, including English, French, Spanish, and German. He has received numerous awards, including the Grand Prize of the Arab Writers' Union in 1975, the Grand Prize of the Algerian Writers' Union in 1977, and the Grand Prize of the Arab Writers' Union in 1981.
