Marc Allégret was a Swiss-born French film director, screenwriter, and art director. He was born on 22 December 1900 in Basel, Switzerland. He was the son of the French writer André Allégret and the brother of the actor Yves Allégret. Allégret began his career as an assistant director in the 1920s, working with directors such as Jean Renoir and Jacques Feyder. He made his directorial debut in 1929 with the film La Petite Lise. He went on to direct over 30 films, including the classic Les Enfants du Paradis (1945). He also wrote the screenplay for the film, which was nominated for an Academy Award. Allégret was married to the actress Michèle Morgan from 1945 to 1951. He died on 8 April 1973 in Paris, France. Marc Allégret's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
