Marios Kassianidis is a Cypriot athlete who was born on 16 September 1954 in Cyprus. He is best known for his achievements in the field of athletics, particularly in the long jump and triple jump. He is the first Cypriot athlete to win a medal in the Olympic Games, having won a bronze medal in the triple jump at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Kassianidis began his athletic career in the early 1970s, competing in the long jump and triple jump. He won his first international medal in the long jump at the 1975 Mediterranean Games in Algiers, Algeria. He went on to win a bronze medal in the triple jump at the 1979 Mediterranean Games in Split, Yugoslavia. Kassianidis achieved his greatest success at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he won a bronze medal in the triple jump. He also competed in the long jump at the Olympics, but did not make the final. Kassianidis retired from competitive athletics in the late 1980s. He currently works as a coach and is the president of the Cyprus Athletics Federation. He is married and has two children.
