Alén was born in Helsinki, Finland, on 15 February 1951. He began his career as a stuntman in the early 1980s, and has since worked on over 100 films and television shows. He has also worked as a stunt coordinator and stunt double. Alén has been married to his wife, Marja, since 1975. They have two children, a son and a daughter.
