Marlene Mungunda is a Namibian politician and former Minister of Education. She was born in Mariental, Namibia, and is a member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO). She was appointed Minister of Education in March 2015. Mungunda has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Namibia and a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of South Africa. She has also completed a number of courses in management and leadership. Mungunda has held various positions in the Namibian government, including Deputy Minister of Education, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration. She has also served as a Member of Parliament since 2004. Mungunda is married and has two children. She is an active member of the SWAPO party and is a strong advocate for women's rights.
