Timeline
Was cast as the character 'Bruiser' in the film 'The Limehouse Golem (2016)', but due to on-going production delays his part was unfortunately cut.
Matt accidentally got into radio after his friend suggested the idea to him after he was a guest on his friend's show. Matt has since worked on two radio shows for Click Teesside in Middlesbrough, and since August 2015, has been the presenter of 'The Saturday Afternoon Show' on 105 Zetland FM in Redcar and Cleveland.
Matthew began writing over ten years ago as a hobby. His break came in 2010 when he co-wrote a theatrical play 'What The Window Cleaner Saw' which is still touring the UK to this day.
During rehearsals for the film 'Is That It?' (2008), Matthew forgot his lines and decided to continue by improvising the scene by playing the part in a more feminine role, while interacting with his co-star Faye Marsay (Sue). The two of them got carried away with the scene and after finally breaking out in laughter moments later, the director Phillip Sinclair was amused by what he saw and re-wrote the character, and requested that Matthew had to grow his hair and a moustache for the role.
In 1997, he broke his back in a car accident after a stolen car crashed into the car Matt was driving. Doctors stated he was lucky not to be paralysed from the waist down because of the location of his injury.
Turned down a role in the Fifth Element in 1996. He was out of work and was offered a full-time job in his hometown, which he took in place of the role. He still regrets the decision to this day.
Matt had always wanted to pursue a career in film and television since a young age. After graduating from college in 1993, Matt found employment in the public sector as a Video and Audio Analyst. Although in full-time work, Matt still managed to work as an actor and voice-over artist on various independent and commercial productions. Eventually, after seeking advice from his friends who work within the industry. Matt decided to leave his job after seventeen years, and go back into full-time education at Teesside University, where he recently graduated with BA(Hons) in Film and Television production. Since the career move, Matthew has worked on further film and television productions in various crew roles, including on the award winning short film 'An Unfortunate Woman' directed by Sean Cronin, and more recently this year's BBC Music Day in Middlesbrough for BBC Look North and BBC1 The One Show.
Born in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, Matthew began his career in theatre at the age of eleven after performing in a local production at the Middlesbrough Theatre in 1986.
