On March 1, 2019, President Donald Trump announced his intent to nominate Solomson to a seat on the United States Court of Federal Claims. On March 5, 2019, his nomination was sent to the Senate. President Trump nominated Solomson to the seat vacated by Judge Emily C. Hewitt, who retired on October 22, 2013. On April 30, 2019, a hearing on his nomination was held before the Senate Judiciary Committee. On June 13, 2019, his nomination was reported out of committee by a 19–3 vote. On January 8, 2020, the United States Senate invoked cloture on his nomination by a vote of 88–7, and later that day, the Senate confirmed his nomination by a vote of 89–8. He received his judicial commission on February 3, 2020.
