Maurice Binder was an American film title designer and film director. He is best known for his work on the James Bond film series, for which he designed the opening title sequences from Dr. No (1962) to Licence to Kill (1989). He also directed the opening title sequences for the first two Bond films, Dr. No and From Russia with Love (1963). Binder was born in New York City in 1925. He studied at the Art Students League of New York and the Pratt Institute. He began his career in the 1950s, working as a graphic designer for television commercials. He then moved into film title design, creating titles for films such as The Man with the Golden Arm (1955), The Pawnbroker (1964), and The Thomas Crown Affair (1968). Binder's work on the Bond films earned him a great deal of recognition. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for his work on Moonraker (1979). He also received a BAFTA nomination for Best Title Design for his work on The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). Binder died in 1991 at the age of 65.

A native New Yorker, Binder's early work included designing advertisements and catalogs for Macy's department store. During the Second World War, he worked at Universal Studios, then became West Coast art director for Columbia Pictures. Director Stanley Donen hired Binder to create main titles for Indiscreet (1958) and used him thereafter in similar capacity on most of his films.
