Maurice Klugman was an American television producer and writer. He was best known for his work on the television series The Odd Couple, which he co-created with Garry Marshall. He was also a producer on the series Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and Mork & Mindy. Klugman was born on July 12, 1914 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied journalism. After graduating, he began his career as a writer for radio programs. He then moved to television, writing for shows such as The Phil Silvers Show and The Danny Thomas Show. In 1965, Klugman co-created The Odd Couple with Garry Marshall. The show was a hit and ran for five seasons. Klugman also produced the series Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and Mork & Mindy. Klugman was married to actress and singer Kaye Ballard from 1956 to 1962. He later married actress and singer Jo Anne Worley in 1965. Klugman died on August 25, 2003 in Los Angeles, California at the age of 89. He was survived by his wife, Jo Anne Worley, and his two children, Michael and Julie.
