Max Straubinger is a German politician who was born on 12 August 1954 in Simbach, Germany. He is a member of the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU) and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2002. Straubinger studied law at the University of Regensburg and was a research assistant at the Institute for Public Law and Political Science at the University of Regensburg from 1979 to 1983. From 1983 to 1989, he was a lawyer in the district court of Passau. In 1989, Straubinger was elected to the Bavarian state parliament and was re-elected in 1994 and 1998. From 1998 to 2002, he was the Minister of Justice in the Bavarian state government. In 2002, Straubinger was elected to the German Bundestag and has been a member ever since. He is currently a member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection and the Committee on the Election of Judges. Straubinger is married and has two children.
