Michel Aoun is a Lebanese politician who has been President of Lebanon since October 2016. He was previously Prime Minister of Lebanon from 1988 to 1990 and again from 2005 to 2008. He is the founder and leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, a political party in Lebanon. Aoun was born on 2 June 1959 in Damour, Lebanon. He is the son of a Maronite Christian family. He studied at the Lebanese University and obtained a degree in law in 1975. He then joined the Lebanese Army and rose to the rank of Major General. Aoun was elected to the Lebanese Parliament in 1992 and served as a member until 2005. He was appointed Prime Minister of Lebanon in 1988 and served until 1990. He was then appointed Prime Minister again in 2005 and served until 2008. In October 2016, Aoun was elected President of Lebanon. He is the first Maronite Christian to hold the office since the end of the Lebanese Civil War in 1990. As of 2021, Michel Aoun's net worth is estimated to be around $2 million.
