Michel Salesse is a French fencer who was born on 3 January, 1955 in Algiers, Algeria. He is a two-time Olympic champion, having won gold medals in the individual foil and team foil events at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He also won a bronze medal in the individual foil event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Salesse began fencing at the age of 12 and was a member of the French national team from 1975 to 1988. He won the individual foil world championship in 1979 and the team foil world championship in 1981. He also won the individual foil European championship in 1981 and the team foil European championship in 1983. Salesse retired from competitive fencing in 1988 and has since become a fencing coach. He is currently the head coach of the French national fencing team. He is also the president of the French Fencing Federation. Salesse is married and has two children. He currently resides in Paris, France.
