Mike Resnick is an American science fiction author with over 80 novels and 300 short stories published. He is one of the most honored authors in the science fiction field, having won five Hugo Awards and five Nebula Awards. He has also been nominated for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer and the World Fantasy Award. Resnick was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in the city's Hyde Park neighborhood. He attended the University of Chicago, where he earned a degree in English Literature. After college, he worked as a journalist and editor for a variety of publications, including Galaxy Science Fiction and If. Resnick began writing science fiction in the late 1960s, and his first novel, The Soul Eater, was published in 1981. Since then, he has written dozens of novels and hundreds of short stories, many of which have been collected in anthologies. His works often explore themes of morality, justice, and the power of the individual. Resnick is also an active editor, having edited over 50 anthologies. He is the founder of the magazine Galaxy's Edge, and the editor of the Stellar Guild series of books. He is also the founder of the Superstars Writing Seminars, which provides instruction and mentorship to aspiring writers. Resnick currently lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife, Carol.
