Milan Chautur is a Slovakian politician and former Prime Minister of Slovakia. He was born in Snina, Slovakia, and attended the University of Economics in Bratislava. He began his political career in the early 1990s, when he was elected to the National Council of the Slovak Republic. He served as the Minister of Economy from 1994 to 1998, and then as the Prime Minister of Slovakia from 1998 to 2006. Chautur is a member of the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union – Democratic Party (SDKÚ-DS). He is also a member of the European People's Party (EPP). Chautur is married to his wife, Jana Chauturova, and they have two children. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys skiing, tennis, and golf. 1992

On 11 January 1992, Chautur was appointed and on 29 February 1992 he was consecrated to the Episcopate as an Auxiliary Bishop of Slovak Catholic Eparchy of Prešov and the Titular Bishop of Cresima. The principal consecrator was Bishop Jan Hirka, the Head of the Slovak Greek Catholic Church.

1990

After ordination he served as a parish priest, but during 1982–1984 was forced to make a compulsory service in the Czechoslovak People's Army. Then he continued to serve as a parish priest in Medzilaborce (1984–1985), Šmigovec (1985–1989) and Porúbka (1989–1992). For his active pastoral activity with the youth he was in the attention of the State Security of the Communist regime of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. On July 1, 1990, he was elected as a Vice-Provincial of the Slovak Redemptorist Province based in Michalovce.

1974

In the Congregation Chautur made a profession on 2 August 1974 and a solemn profession on 2 August 1980. He was ordained as priest on 14 June 1981, after completed philosophical and theological studies in the Roman Catholic Faculty of Theology of Cyril and Methodius at the Comenius University in Bratislava.

(born 4 September 1957 in Snina, Czechoslovakia, present day Slovakia) is a Slovak Greek Catholic hierarch, who has served as the first Eparchial Bishop of the newly created Slovak Catholic Eparchy of Košice since 30 January 2008. Previously he was an Auxiliary Bishop of the Slovak Catholic Eparchy of Prešov from 11 January 1992 until 27 January 1997 and as Apostolic Exarch of the Apostolic Exarchate of Košice from 29 January 1997 until 30 January 2008.
