Modest Altschuler was a Russian composer and conductor. He studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and was a professor at the Moscow Conservatory. He composed operas, ballets, symphonies, chamber music, and songs. He was a prolific composer, writing over 200 works. He was also a conductor and served as the director of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. He was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner of Labour. He died in Moscow in 1942.
