Mohamed Abdel Wahab was an Egyptian composer, singer, and actor. He was born in Cairo, Egypt, on 13 March 1901. He is considered one of the most influential figures in the history of Egyptian music. He composed over 500 songs and wrote the lyrics for many of them. He was also an actor, appearing in over 20 films. Abdel Wahab was a pioneer in the use of western instruments in Egyptian music. He was the first to use the electric guitar in his compositions. He also incorporated elements of jazz, blues, and classical music into his work. He was a master of improvisation and was known for his ability to create complex musical arrangements. Abdel Wahab was a prolific composer and wrote music for films, plays, and television shows. He also wrote the music for the Egyptian national anthem. He was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Egypt in 1971. Abdel Wahab died on 4 May 1991 in Cairo, Egypt. He was 90 years old.
