Mohammad Baitullah was born on 2 February, 1927 in Bangladesh. He is a politician and a member of the Awami League. He was the Minister of Home Affairs in the Government of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2001. Baitullah was born in a middle-class family in the village of Baitullah in the district of Faridpur. He completed his primary education in his village and then went on to pursue higher studies in Dhaka. He graduated from Dhaka University in 1950 with a degree in law. Baitullah started his political career in the 1950s when he joined the Awami League. He was elected to the East Pakistan Provincial Assembly in 1954 and served as the Minister of Home Affairs in the Government of East Pakistan from 1956 to 1958. Baitullah was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan in 1970 and served as the Minister of Home Affairs in the Government of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2001. He was also a member of the National Security Council of Bangladesh from 2001 to 2006. Baitullah was awarded the Independence Day Award in 2001 for his contribution to the liberation of Bangladesh. He passed away on 28 April, 2018 at the age of 91.
