Morris Stoloff was an American composer, arranger, and conductor. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 1, 1898. He began his career as a violinist in the Philadelphia Orchestra, and later became a conductor and arranger for the orchestra. He also worked as a composer and arranger for films, and won two Academy Awards for his work on the musicals "Cover Girl" (1944) and "Carmen Jones" (1954). He also composed the theme song for the television series "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" (1959-1963). He died in Los Angeles, California, on April 25, 1980.
