He was known for his comedic roles and was often referred to as the "King of Comedy". El-Rihani began his career in the theater, performing in plays and musicals. He then moved to the silver screen, appearing in over 50 films. He was known for his comedic roles and was often paired with the actress Faten Hamama. He also directed several films, including the classic comedy "The Thief and the Dogs" (1939). El-Rihani was married to the actress Faten Hamama and they had two children.
