He is the former husband of McEntire and the father of their three children. Blackstock was born in Tarrant County, Texas, and grew up in Fort Worth. He attended the University of North Texas and graduated with a degree in business. After college, he worked as a booking agent for McEntire's band. Blackstock and McEntire married in 1989 and had three children together. They divorced in 2015. Blackstock is the founder and CEO of Starstruck Entertainment, a music management company. He has managed the careers of McEntire, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and other country music stars. Blackstock has won several awards for his work in the music industry, including the Academy of Country Music's Manager of the Year award in 2004.
