Naser Babapour is an Iranian long-distance runner who was born on 6 November, 1957 in Iran. He is best known for his achievements in the marathon, having won the gold medal at the Asian Games in 1982 and the silver medal at the Asian Championships in 1985. He also competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, finishing in 11th place. Babapour began his running career in 1975, and quickly established himself as one of the top long-distance runners in Iran. He won the Iranian National Marathon Championships in 1979, 1981, and 1982, and was the Iranian National Cross Country Champion in 1981. In 1982, Babapour won the gold medal in the marathon at the Asian Games in New Delhi, India. He followed this up with a silver medal in the marathon at the 1985 Asian Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia. Babapour also competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, finishing in 11th place. He retired from competitive running in 1986.
