Norma Torrado had two loves since her youth: cinema and santería, the religion the Yorubas brought to America. She joined the Cine-Club Visión in the early fifties and studied journalism at La Habana University. In 1961 she began to work in the Cuban film institute (ICAIC) as editor of newsreels.
