She is best known for her roles in the films “The White Sun of the Desert” (1970), “The Irony of Fate” (1975), and “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed” (1979). Nuriya Akhmedova was born on December 26, 1950 in Baku, Azerbaijan. She graduated from the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts in 1972 and began her career as an actress in the theater. She made her film debut in 1970 in the film “The White Sun of the Desert”. She has since appeared in over 30 films and television shows. Nuriya Akhmedova has won numerous awards for her work, including the People's Artist of the USSR in 1989, the Order of Friendship of Peoples in 1991, and the Order of Honor in 2004. She is also a recipient of the State Prize of the Azerbaijan Republic. Nuriya Akhmedova is currently married to actor and director, Rauf Atakishiyev. The couple has two children.
