Oddvar Vargset is a Norwegian wrestler who was born on 6 October, 1925 in Narvik, Norway. He is a two-time Olympic medalist, having won a silver medal in the freestyle wrestling event at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, and a bronze medal in the Greco-Roman wrestling event at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne. Vargset began his wrestling career in the late 1940s, and went on to become one of the most successful wrestlers in Norway. He won the Norwegian national championship in freestyle wrestling in 1951, 1952, and 1953, and in Greco-Roman wrestling in 1954 and 1955. He also won the Nordic Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling in 1954 and 1955. Vargset retired from competitive wrestling in 1957, and went on to become a wrestling coach. He coached the Norwegian national team from 1959 to 1965, and was the head coach of the Norwegian team at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Vargset is currently 72 years old.
