On 8 July 2021, Jerandi received a phone call US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The two ministers discussed ways to further strengthen consultation and coordination on several regional and international issues of common interest. They also reviewed the UN and international efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people which has increased amid the coronavirus pandemic, through speeding up the reopening of corridors allowing the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid.
