Owen Dolan was a New Zealand rugby union player who represented the All Blacks in the 1950s. He played in the centres and was known for his strong tackling and aggressive style of play. He was a member of the All Blacks team that toured South Africa in 1956 and played in all four tests. Dolan was born in Hawera and attended Hawera High School. He played for the Hawera Rugby Club and was selected for the Taranaki provincial team in 1950. He made his All Blacks debut in 1953 against Australia and went on to play in a total of 17 tests. He was part of the All Blacks team that won the Bledisloe Cup in 1956. After retiring from rugby, Dolan worked as a farmer and was a member of the Hawera Borough Council. He was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 1977. He died in Hawera in 2019 at the age of 95.
