Parley Baer was an American actor and radio personality. He was best known for his roles as Chester A. Riley in the radio and television series The Life of Riley, and as Mayor Stoner in the television series The Andy Griffith Show. Baer began his career in radio in the 1930s, and was a regular on the popular Fibber McGee and Molly show. He also appeared in numerous films, including The Music Man, The Great Race, and The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming. Baer was married to actress Virginia Gregg from 1945 until his death in 2002. He died at the age of 88 in Los Angeles, California.
