Paul Almond is a Canadian director, producer, and writer. He is best known for his work on the television series Seven Up! and its sequels, as well as the feature films Isabel and The Act of the Heart. Almond was born in Montréal, Québec, Canada on April 26, 1931. He attended McGill University, where he studied English literature and philosophy. After graduating, he worked as a radio producer for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. In 1964, Almond directed his first feature film, Isabel, which won the Canadian Film Award for Best Feature Film. He followed this up with The Act of the Heart in 1970, which was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1964, Almond also began work on the documentary series Seven Up!, which followed the lives of 14 British children from the age of seven. The series has been followed up with sequels every seven years, with Almond directing the first three installments. Almond has also directed several television movies, including The Dance Goes On (1991) and The Boys of St. Vincent (1993). Almond has been married twice, first to actress Geneviève Bujold and then to actress and producer Tiiu Leek. He has two children, Matthew and Jennifer. As of 2021, Paul Almond's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
