He competed in the shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. He won a bronze medal in the shot put, and finished fourth in the discus throw and javelin throw. Berglund was a three-time Swedish champion in the shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw. He also won a bronze medal in the shot put at the 1954 European Athletics Championships in Bern, Switzerland. Berglund retired from competitive athletics in 1956. He later worked as a coach and physical education teacher. He is now 96 years old.
