He has composed music for a variety of projects, including the BBC's Doctor Who, the National Theatre's War Horse, and the feature film The Iron Lady. He has also conducted orchestras around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Concert Orchestra. Meechan was born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, and studied composition at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
