Pierre Akendengué is a Gabonese composer, singer, and guitarist. He was born in Aouta, Gabon, on April 25, 1943. He is best known for his work in the genres of African folk, jazz, and world music. He has released over 20 albums, and has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including Manu Dibango, Salif Keita, and Youssou N'Dour. Akendengué began his musical career in the 1960s, playing in various bands in Libreville, Gabon. He moved to France in the 1970s, where he continued to pursue his musical career. He released his first solo album, "M'Bemba", in 1982. Since then, he has released a number of albums, including "Kassa", "Kassa 2", and "Kassa 3". He has also collaborated with many renowned musicians, including Manu Dibango, Salif Keita, and Youssou N'Dour. Akendengué has been awarded numerous awards and honors for his work, including the Grand Prix du Disque from the Académie Charles Cros in France, and the Prix de la Musique from the Académie du Disque Français.
