Sovath has performed at the Best of the Best: Live Concert, a concert which has taken place annually since 2004 at Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium and has included performances by Cambodian singers from Raksmey Hang Meas and more. The concert is free to the public; DVD sales cover the costs. He also performed at Best of the Best 2012 on February 14, 2012 at Koh Pich's Concert Hall.
The popularity of Preap Sovath has also earned him many awards in Cambodia such as the 2007 top honor award at Cambodian Film Festival, and the 2012 Best Singer Award for Anachak Dara, hosted by Sabay in the satellite city Koh Pich on February 16, 2012.
Sovath took part in the MTV EXIT Concert in Phnom Penh on December 12, 2008. The concert was part of a campaign to raise awareness to end exploitation and human trafficking in Asia.
Sovath is married to Long Sreymom in 1997 and has three sons: Sovath Monivann, Sovath Monineak, and Sovath Sereyvuth; respectively. All of them have entered the music industry and signed a contract with Rasmey Hang Meas Production in 2018. The trio is currently making a lot of interest from the audience because of their handsome appearance.
He sang with Touch Sunnix for a year, from 1995 to 1996, and released his first song. The first two songs—Oun Min Men Songsa (អូនមិនមែនសង្សា) and Som Oy Pit Doch Veacha (សូមឱ្យពិតដូចវាចា)—was a success. After the popularity of the two songs, he joined one of the largest productions in Cambodia—Reaksmey Hang Meas Production—in 1997. He released his first solo album—His Life and His Excellence—with Him Sivorn, and becoming the lead singer of Raksmey Hang Meas. Most of his songs were in CDs & Karaoke VCDs.
Sovath's career as a singer started in the 1990s when he joined the army and became a political commissar. He worked during the daytime and sang at restaurants or bars at nighttime.
In 1982, Preap Sovath and his mother moved to Phnom Penh. His mother sent him to high school and eventually graduated in 1991. He pursued a Bachelor of Law and Economics at the University of Economics. He applied for military service in 1992 and joined the army at the Political Bureau, learned financial equipment, and joined the state-run Treasury Department.
Preap Sovath was born on May 25, 1975 in Kandal Province during the Pol Pot regime. While being an infant, Sovath's father was killed by the Khmer Rouge in 1977. Later, he and his mother moved to Kaoh Thum, and worked as farmers. Sovath gathers with his mother while he was growing up in an orphanage.
Preap Sovath (Khmer: ព្រាប សុវត្ថិ) is a Cambodian singer and actor who is widely regarded as Cambodia's best singer in the 21st century. His was also the audition judge for Season one's Cambodian Idol, season one's Cambodia's Got Talent, as well as The Voice Kid Cambodia.
His second track, "Heartbreak (ហែកបេះដូង)", was Cambodia's most famous love song of 2003. The song was a cover of the Thai song, and the popularity made him one of the top singers in Cambodia.
