Purnomo Yusgiantoro is an Indonesian politician and economist who served as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources from 2001 to 2004 and as the Minister of Finance from 2004 to 2005. He was also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences from 2005 to 2009. Yusgiantoro was born in Semarang, Central Java, on 16 June 1951. He graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1975 with a degree in electrical engineering. He then went on to earn a master's degree in economics from the University of Indonesia in 1981 and a doctorate in economics from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands in 1985. Yusgiantoro began his career in the Indonesian government in 1985, when he was appointed as a lecturer at the University of Indonesia. He then served as the Director of the Center for Energy and Mineral Resources Studies at the University of Indonesia from 1988 to 1991. From 1991 to 1993, he was the Director of the Center for Economic and Development Studies at the University of Indonesia. Yusgiantoro was appointed as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources in 2001 and served in that position until 2004. He then served as the Minister of Finance from 2004 to 2005. From 2005 to 2009, he was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences. Yusgiantoro is currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Institute of Management. He is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As of 2021, Purnomo Yusgiantoro's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
