Quincy Jones is an American record producer, musician, composer, arranger, and film and television producer. He has won 27 Grammy Awards, including a Grammy Legend Award in 1991. He has also been nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.
Jones was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 14, 1933. He began playing the piano at the age of seven and was playing in jazz bands by the age of 14. He attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and then moved to New York City in 1955.
Jones has produced and arranged music for some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and many others. He has also produced and composed music for films, television shows, and video games.

He was awarded the 2010 National Medal of Arts for his contributions to American music as a musician, composer, record producer, and arranger. He was an inventor of musical hybrids, he has mixed pop, soul, hip-hop, jazz, classical, African, and Brazilian music into many dazzling fusions, traversing virtually every medium, including records, live performances, movies, and television.
He will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for his services to music. [May 2005]

Jones was working with these artists while holding an executive position at Mercury Records, being one of the very few African Americans at the time to have such a position.
