Rachel Trezise is a British writer and playwright. She was born on 3 July 1978 in Cwm-parc, United Kingdom. She is best known for her debut novel, Fresh Apples, which won the 2006 Dylan Thomas Prize. She has also written several plays, including The Girl from the Valleys, which was performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2006. Trezise studied English Literature at the University of Glamorgan, graduating in 2000. She then went on to study for an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, graduating in 2002. Trezise's debut novel, Fresh Apples, was published in 2006 and won the 2006 Dylan Thomas Prize. The novel is set in the South Wales Valleys and follows the story of a young girl, Gwen, who is struggling to come to terms with her mother's death. Trezise has also written several plays, including The Girl from the Valleys, which was performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2006. She has also written for television, including the BBC Wales drama series Belonging. Trezise currently lives in Cardiff, Wales. She is married and has two children.
