He is also the founder and chairman of the Arab Bankers Association, a non-profit organization that promotes the development of the banking sector in the Arab world. Rabie was born in Amman, Jordan, and graduated from the University of Jordan with a degree in economics. He began his career in banking in 1975, when he joined the Arab Bank Group as a manager. He rose through the ranks and eventually became the chairman of the bank in 1988. Rabie has been a major contributor to the development of the banking sector in the Arab world. He has served as a board member of the Arab Monetary Fund, the Arab Bankers Association, and the Arab Investment Bank. He has also served as a board member of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Rabie is also a major philanthropist. He has established the Rateb Y. Rabie Charitable Foundation, which provides financial assistance to students in Jordan and other Arab countries. He has also established the Rateb Y.
