Ray Johnston is a British singer-songwriter and musician. He was born on 5 May 1981 in Bristol, England. He is best known for his work with the band The Kooks, which he joined in 2006. Johnston began playing guitar at the age of 12 and started writing songs at the age of 15. He attended the University of Bristol, where he studied music and graduated with a degree in music composition. Johnston has released two solo albums, "The Ray Johnston Band" (2008) and "The Ray Johnston Band II" (2010). He has also released two EPs, "The Ray Johnston Band EP" (2009) and "The Ray Johnston Band II EP" (2011). Johnston has toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, and the US, and has performed at festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading, and Leeds. He has also performed on television shows such as Later... with Jools Holland and The Late Show with David Letterman. Johnston is currently signed to the independent label, Cooking Vinyl.
