Raymond Kalisz is a Papua New Guinean politician who served as the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea from 1988 to 1992. He was born on 27 September 1927 in the village of Kerema, Gulf Province. Kalisz was educated at the University of Papua New Guinea, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in International Relations at the Australian National University. Kalisz began his political career in the 1960s, when he was elected to the House of Assembly in the Gulf Province. He was later appointed to the Legislative Council in 1972, and in 1975 he was appointed to the National Executive Council. In 1988, Kalisz was elected Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, a position he held until 1992. During his tenure, he was credited with introducing a number of reforms, including the introduction of a new constitution and the establishment of a new national currency.
